The World’s First Playable DJ Pizza Box by Pizza Hut Restaurants
Music and food is the ultimate combination, and we know that Pizza Hut’s Restaurants’ customers love listening to their favourite tunes over a pizza. How could we create the chance for them to combine and enjoy the two in a completely innovative way?
In celebration of an August bank holiday renowned for its music events, we worked with Pizza Hut Restaurants to create and launch the world’s first playable pizza box DJ decks. These were ‘regular’ pizza boxes which allow users to mix and drop their own beats.
Created in partnership with Novalia, experts in printed electronics, users unfolded the innovative pizza box to reveal a sleek design modelled on a modern DJ set up. Using conductive ink, music and pizza fans could mix, scratch and release their inner DJ just by tapping and sliding their fingers over the controls.
Pizza Hut Restaurants partnered with grime royalty P Money and Rinse FM DJ, Vectra, to show off the playable pizza box’s new musical capabilities.
The DJ Decks were an international hit, gaining coverage in 189 media titles, including UNILAD, DigitalSpy, Mixmag and Billboard magazine with a circulation of 1,289,593,638. The decks even featured on BBC Radio 6 and even a broadcast piece on US show CNBC and a request for a set from the rap impresario and Def Jam Founder, Russell Simmons.
